Ford Motor Company (Ford) is an American automobile brand founded in 1903 by Henry Ford and investors. The first car model, the Model A, was released the same year.

The Model T was introduced in 1908 and the moving assembly line made Ford able to put together a vehicle in less than 3 hours in 1913. 15 million Ford Model T's were produced through 1927.

The Ford Model A introduced in 1927, the Ford V-8 in 1932, the Ford F-Series pickup truck in 1948 with the 2015 model year thirteenth generation released at the end of 2014. The Ford Thunderbird introduced in 1954, the Ford Mustang in 1964, the Ford Explorer, a small SUV, in 1990.

Large reforms for workers, among them an eight hour day, five workdays per week and more than twice the pay rate at $5 per day were introduced in order to stabilize the workforce in 1914.

Common stock went on sale in 1956, Ford of Europe formed in 1967 with the merger of Ford factories in Great Britain; in operation since 1911, and Ford factories in Germany; in operation since 1925.

Ford aquired Aston Martin Lagonda, Ltd. in 1987, Jaguar Cars in 1989, Volvo Cars and TH!NK in 1999, 50% of Mazda in 1992 and Land Rover in 2000. Jaguar Cars and Land Rover were sold to Tata Motors in 2008 and Volvo Cars to Geely Holding Group in 2010.
